Good interview about Amendment One this morning on MSNBC

It's been said that if Amendment One passes today, it will be because supporters confused voters. I think a lot of them are confused themselves. This morning on MSNBC, Pastor Mark Harris, and Amendment One supporter debated Jeremy Kennedy, the campaign manager for the Coalition to Protect All NC Families. While being questioned by Thomas Roberts, watch how Harris jumps and dodges.

Wow, he was told to make an argument without religious reasons, but he can't find any reason without bringing God into it. Perhaps it's because there aren't any secular reason to ban gay marriage, so religious (reasons) is all he has.

Still, I am a bit surprised he didn't bother to try any of the usual "gay is a choice", or "gays are unnatural" shticks. He didn't even make any mention of ex-gays. Apart from whining about the judges, his reason for Amendment One just a blunt "God made marriage to be between a man and a woman."

In fact, now that I think of it, as May 8th approached, most of the anti-equality group were gradually going from unscientific reasons, to just plain "Marriage is between one man (pause...) and one woman."

I realize that there really wasn't very much time at all, but pointing out "You didn't answer the question," and maybe repeating it..

Or just interrupting him. "I think you may have misunderstood, let me repeat the question."
