Barney Frank calls Log Cabin Republicans 'Uncle Toms', causes controversy

Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank has never been one to mince words and this time, his comments about the Log Cabin Republicans have caused a firestorm:

Transcript:

"When they tell us that they're happy to be Republicans because they're getting acceptance and civility, I gotta say that I am again inclined to think that they're called the Log Cabin club because their role model is Uncle Tom,"

According to Buzzfeed, several lgbt organizations are distancing themselves from Frank's comments.

Also, according to Buzzfeed:

LCR executive director R. Clarke Cooper said, "We understand that Barney has earned his protected place within the Democrat Party by being their attack dog on gay rights issues, demonizing Republicans and undermining efforts at bipartisanship that would actually improve LGBT Americans lives. We expect this kind of bile from Barney, especially when it plays into the Obama campaign's efforts to divide, distract and deceive the American people."

Now see that bothers me. While I understand the reluctance to embrace such strong language, I don't remember Cooper ever being this outspoken when it comes to calling out religious right groups embraced by the Republican Party.

I don't remember him calling out the Family Research Council when it spins lies on gays and I certainly am not aware of any statement he has made when it comes to Bryan Fischer attacking gays, accusing us of molesting children. or helping to start the Nazi Party.

Seems to me that those things do more to divide Americans than anything Cooper can claim that Obama does.

And while I am on the subject, the Democratic National Convention had a record number of gay delegates and folks embracing our issues from the stage. I can't say the same for the Republican National Convention.

So while I wouldn't have used the strong language as Frank, it is difficult for me to say that he is far from the truth.

I mean what other term can you use to describe an organization which give its persecutors a free pass while attacking those who are helping the community it is supposed to stand for?

I think Dan Savage caused a bit of a firestorm himself when he referred to gay Republicans as "House Faggots," Which is a derivation of the term "House N*****", to describe them.. It might have been specifically GOProud members, but I can't recall.

These terms might be strong, and it might be jarring to hear them uttered by whites, but take it as a testament to the quality of influence in Stowe's novel. In my opinion, that is a positive thing.

Seems to me the Log Cabin Rebiblicans have a
conceptual problem.

These LCR dudes experience trembling,
sweaty ecstasy while kissing the fist that has
just punched their lights out.

Very kinky.

Has LaSilvia or Barron posted anything about how "libtards are now enforcing homosexual marriage" yet? Seems like something they would do.

Barney Frank speaks the truth. Republicans hate the truth. Tough shit.
