Christian publication combines paranoia, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia in vile mix

Matt Barber
For a while now,  arch anti-gay spokesperson Matt Barber of Liberty University has run an online publication, BarbWire.

BarbWire supposedly gives news and opinion from a  Decidedly Biblical Worldview. However, I think there should be a closer look at what Barber considers a "Biblical worldview" . . . and not just by lgbts.

Of course mimicking Barber himself, the publication is viciously anti-gay, running articles and opinion pieces such as:

Latest Examples of the Undeniable Link Between Homosexuality and Pedophilia

‘Gay Marriage,’ Distant Consequences: Homosexuality, Sexual Immorality and the Downfall of American Civilization

‘GLBT’ Schoolteachers Reveal Plans to Push Homosexuality

and running pictures such as the following to accompany articles labeling lgbts as the "Gaystapo":

However, BarbWire dabbles into xenophobia, racism, and conspiracy theories.

Correction.

I meant to say BarbWire dives headfirst into such things. Take the following piece, published yesterday by columnist Sher Ziev, for example:

It’s Racist to Not Die for Obama

If the headline hasn't caught your attention, check out the opening:

I knew this day was coming and have even written about it in past years’ columns. It was a fait accompli when Barack Hussein Obama entered what was once our White House and only a matter of time until he implemented this Orwellian portion of his program. We are already being called racists if we object to having our country invaded by foreign entities; many of whom are diseased, many gang-banger murderers including the infamous MS-13 Latin gang and Islamist terrorists. So, soon the inevitable devolution into the following will be a reality: If you object to your own death at the hands of the illegals’ diseases, you are a racist…and probably white.
To make an insane story short, but not less insane, Ziev claims that Obama is plotting to murder 25 million Americans via "diseased immigrants:"
. . . . In the 1970s Obama’s friend and mentor Bill Ayers’ group the Weather Underground advised that its plan was to have the Russians, Chinese and others occupy various regions of the USA and to eliminate at least 25,000,000 people who would refuse to be re-educated into their new masters’ ways of thinking. Larry Grathwohl was an FBI undercover informant in the group and shared information via a video (below) and I was privileged to interview him shortly before his death.
Today, the Russians and the Chinese–via the ObamaGov–have been entering our country in increasing numbers. Many of these are soldiers brought in by Obama for faux “joint training exercises” who have never left the country and others are still coming across our Southern border by the millions. And the 25,000,000 pegged for “elimination?” The number targeted for termination is probably much higher today. Besides, the ObamaGov and NWO will have to get rid of many more millions of us so that they can give our homes and possessions to the “new transformer illegals”…aka Obama voters and supporters. This is the stark reality of the situation, folks: It’s Racist to Not Die for Obama. Choose him or choose God. And remember…only one of the two gives us free will to make the choice. Guess which…

And it's not like the wormy apple falls far from the rotted tree.

While Ziev's piece was  percolating on the BarbWire site, Right Wing Watch pointed out that in an interview last week, Barber was spewing talk of "Christian civil disobedience" against lgbt equality, anti-Christian persecution in foreign countries, and how President Obama is a Muslim sympathizer.

When interpreting Barber's idea of a news and opinion from a "Biblical worldview," one thing is unfortunately clear. Christianity is getting an increasingly bad rep in America, but you can't blame the gay community. You would have to blame rabid zealots like Barber for mistaking public displays of foaming at the mouth for decent religious practice.

And the true Christians for being silent while they do it.

Wht are the real Christians doing much if anything? Why are they not heading to other countries to tell the truth? Why are they not as loud as the haters? We hear them now and then supporting equality in the courts but where are they the rest of the time?

"Real Christians" (trademark pending) are quietly doing what they always do - good works without calling attention to themselves.

The United Church of Christ (UCC) is one such group of folk that has been doing such work for a very long time. They are the ones suing a state because the anti-gay marriage language infringes upon their religious liberty. They've accepted the LGBTQ community for over twenty years.

I am a staunch pagan and I'm welcomed in the UCC church. They have a message that no matter where you are in life's journey, you are welcome. They practice what they preach. It's not flashy, it doesn't make headlines but it does change minds and hearts.
